Every child receives a baseline assessment within their first four to six weeks at nursery, followed by a communication and language assessment at 12 weeks. This early identification process means that if a child needs additional support, we can act quickly.
Every nursery has a trained Nursery SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) who oversees targeted support plans. Through a continuous cycle of observation, we identify emerging needs and work collaboratively with local authority SEND inclusion officers, speech and language therapists, early help teams, occupational therapists, dietitians, and portage services.
Where needed, we support families through the process of securing an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), ensuring that every child receives the provision they are entitled to.
British values are integrated into our ‘golden rules’ and daily practice. We celebrate kindness, respect, fairness and inclusion, and we ensure that children develop an understanding of and appreciation for the diverse world they are growing up in.
