Your journey begins with a meeting with the nursery manager and your child’s key person. This is your chance to ask questions, share information about your child, and start building a relationship with the people who will care for them.
Together with your key person, you will complete a detailed ‘All About Me’ document that captures everything important about your child: their routines, likes, comfort items, dietary needs and family background. This document stays with your child throughout their time at MiChild.
We ask for at least five settling sessions, with the length gradually increasing as your child becomes more comfortable. Some children may need more sessions, and that is absolutely fine. We follow your child’s lead.
At least one settling session takes place during a mealtime, so you can see exactly how mealtimes work and feel confident about the food your child will enjoy.
The settling process is about building a secure attachment between your child and their key person. Gradual separation ensures your child feels safe and happy before they begin their full sessions.
When your child moves to a new room, a fresh ‘All About Me’ document is completed with their new key person, ensuring continuity and familiarity at every stage.
