Every meal at MiChild is prepared fresh and on-site, every single day, across all 14 nurseries. Our kitchens are quality assured and food hygiene rated by the Environmental Health Office, and everything is cooked from scratch using ingredients from trusted, single-source suppliers alongside fresh fruits and produce.
We take allergies extremely seriously. Our colour-coded system ensures complete clarity:
Red: Children with confirmed allergies. Named plates with allergen labels, separate preparation area, different utensils.
Amber: Children with intolerances or dietary preferences.
Green: General dietary requirements.
Colour-coded plates match the system, and placemats or tent cards are placed at tables so all staff are aware. A risk assessment and health care plan is completed for every child with allergies. Importantly, children are never segregated at mealtimes.
At MiChild, mealtimes are not a break from learning. They are an extension of it. Children develop independence by transitioning through utensils (from hands to spoons to knives in preschool), practise self-serving, and build social and communication skills around the table. We also run cooking classes with age-appropriate recipes, and families receive take-home bags so the learning continues at home.
For families with babies starting solid food around six months, we provide a dedicated weaning booklet and menu. We share first food examples and work closely with parents to ensure a smooth, supported transition.
Surplus vegetables and milk are offered to parents at the end of each week, and fresh fruit is available to children throughout the day. If a child arrives hungry, even after the breakfast window has closed, we will always make sure they are fed.
For non-funded sessions, all meals are included in your fees. This covers breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and tea, along with water, milk and all activities throughout the day. For funded-only sessions, a small voluntary meal charge applies. Please discuss the details with your nursery manager when you register.
A registration fee applies for families accessing sessions above their funded entitlement. This fee secures your child’s place. No registration fee is charged to families who are only accessing their funded hours.
All billing and invoicing at MiChild is managed through the Famly app, our centralised parent platform. Through Famly, you can view your invoices, make payments by credit or debit card, and link your Tax-Free Childcare account to pay directly. It is fully paperless and designed to make managing your childcare costs as simple as possible.
