Every day at MiChild is carefully planned to provide a balance of learning, play, rest, and nourishment. Here is what a typical day looks like for your child.
Before your child starts, their key person creates a personalised ‘All About Me’ document with you. This captures everything that makes your child who they are: their likes, routines, comfort items, dietary needs, and family background. This document travels with your child throughout their MiChild journey, ensuring every practitioner knows and understands them.
Your child is greeted at the door by their key person. Parents are invited in to share any key messages about the morning, how their child slept, or anything the team should know. This daily handover builds trust and ensures continuity of care.
A fresh, nutritious breakfast is served each morning. If a child arrives hungry after the breakfast window, food is always available. Mealtimes are a learning opportunity: children practise independence, social skills, and healthy eating habits.
The morning is filled with a rich variety of activities linked to the MiChild Matters framework. These are planned around the children’s interests and developmental needs, covering everything from creative play and storytelling to sensory exploration and early maths.
Where it is safe to do so, children head outside at least twice a day, whatever the weather. With their wetsuits and wellies always at hand, they are dressed ready to explore natural environments, take part in physical activities, and connect with the world around them. Outdoor play also extends into the local community, with visits to parks, school fields and neighbourhood spaces.
A hot, freshly cooked meal is served every day, prepared from scratch on-site by our kitchen teams. Menus follow a six-month rolling rotation with a three-week cycle, covering all dietary requirements. Children are encouraged to self-serve where age-appropriate, building independence and confidence.
After lunch, children have time to rest. For babies and younger children, this means sleep in line with their individual routines. For older children, quiet activities are available for those who do not nap. We always follow your child’s lead and your family’s preferences.
A healthy snack is provided, followed by afternoon learning activities. These continue to build on the morning’s themes or introduce new explorations based on the children’s interests.
A light tea is served before the end of the day, ensuring children are well nourished before heading home.
At pick-up, your child’s key person shares the highlights of the day, including what they have learned, eaten, and enjoyed. Detailed observations and updates are also shared through the Famly app, so you never miss a moment.
For non-funded sessions, all meals are included in your fees. This covers breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and tea, along with water, milk and all activities throughout the day. For funded-only sessions, a small voluntary meal charge applies. Please discuss the details with your nursery manager when you register.
All billing and invoicing at MiChild is managed through the Famly app, our centralised parent platform. Through Famly, you can view your invoices, make payments by credit or debit card, and link your Tax-Free Childcare account to pay directly. It is fully paperless and designed to make managing your childcare costs as simple as possible.
