They expected a job. What they found was something much more than that - a family, and a team that genuinely cares about helping them grow as professionals and as individuals. Because that's the truth of who we are. MiChild is a family. We are a close, supportive group of people who look out for one another, and everything we do begins with one simple belief: children come first. That belief shapes every decision we make, and it is the thread that runs through our culture, the way we treat our teams, and the care our families experience every single day. That matters to us more than we can put into words. Because the quality of what happens inside any nursery starts and ends with the people working there. You can have the most beautifully designed rooms, the most thoughtful curriculum, the most welcoming environment, and if our teams don't feel valued, supported and inspired, none of it quite lands the way it should. The children feel it. The families feel it. And honestly, you feel it when you walk through the door. So from the very beginning, we made a commitment: we would invest in our people properly, and we would build a culture where everyone feels they belong. One of the things we're proudest of is our Mi Learning Lounge. We've built dedicated, purpose-built training spaces at Moorevilla Nursery in Blackpool and Stepping Stones Nursery in Stockport, places where our teams come together for face-to-face CPD delivered by our Quality and Early Years Team. We cover everything from SEND and outdoor learning through to positive behaviour, working with babies, and our own bespoke MiChild Matters curriculum. We also run interactive twilight training sessions via Teams that are really well attended and the interaction between all our nurseries and sharing practice and ideas is hugely inspiring. It's real learning, done well, by people who know their subject and know our teams. Then there's our apprenticeship programme. We're proud to work in partnership with The Childcare Company, who are Ofsted-rated Good, because quality matters at every level. Through that partnership, we offer the Early Years Educator Level 3 and the Early Years Lead Practitioner Level 5, giving our team members a clear route from their first day in a nursery to becoming a confident, qualified professional. For those with leadership ambitions, we also offer the Visionary Leaders in Childcare Level 5, an Operations and Departmental Management qualification designed for the next generation of nursery leaders. These aren't programmes we bolt on for show. They're programmes we believe in, because growing our own talent, nurturing people from within, is one of the most important things we do. It's also why we've built a benefits package that speaks plainly about how much we value our people on our team. An 80% childcare discount for staff families. A milestone birthday day off. An additional day of annual leave for every year of service, up to four extra days. Paid compassionate leave, because life happens and people shouldn't have to choose between their family and their job. Christmas week off. Wellbeing drop-in sessions and wellness days, because this is emotionally demanding work and we want our team to feel as well-supported as the children and families they serve. And every year, we hold the MiChild Awards, fifteen categories that recognise the full breadth of what our people do, from Apprentice of the Year to Cook of the Year to SENCO of the Year and so many more. Because contribution looks different in every corner of our nurseries, and every one of those contributions deserves to be seen. Our chance to say ‘thank you’ to the incredible people who work so hard every day and make MiChild ‘us’. We've been named a Day Nurseries Top 20 UK Provider every year from 2021 to 2026. We won NMT Nursery Personality of the Year in 2024. These things mean a great deal to us, but they mean a great deal because of the people behind them. Every award reflects a team that shows up, every day, and gives everything they have to the children in their care. We're a fourteen-nursery group operating across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast, Greater Manchester and Cheshire. We're growing. And as we grow, the most important thing to us is that we never lose sight of what makes MiChild what it is: a family of people who are genuinely, deeply passionate about early years, a strong and supportive culture, and a leadership team that considers it a privilege to help them flourish, all of us united by putting children first.
